Legal as a Service Ltd, a corporate boutique law firm, specializes in supporting legal, business and technology departments alike, in the fields of information technology (IT) and data protection law; including but not limited to software licensing, outsourcing, cloud services, consulting services and GDPR implementation along with new technologies and agile legal services strategies.

Our Founder

Charlene Kramer is founder and owner of Legal as a Service Ltd, a corporate boutique law firm specialized in supporting legal, business and technology departments alike, in the fields of information technology (IT) and data protection law; including but not limited to software licensing, outsourcing, cloud services, consulting services and GDPR implementation along with new technologies and agile legal services strategies.

Charlene is a registered Attorney-at-Law and Mediator in both Switzerland and Germany, with a certified specialization in IT-Law.

She speaks English and German as native languages and studied at the universities of Tübingen, Augsburg and St. Gallen as well as at College d’Europe in Bruges and Harvard Law School in the US.

Since 2001, Charlene has also successfully completed several mediation certifications from the Harvard Institute (PON/PIL 2001 and Advanced Master of Negotiation 2015), the Konstanz School for Mediation, KSfM (2010) and the Center for Effective Dispute Resolution, CEDR (2017), as well as with the Swiss and German Bar Associations ( SAV and DAV/DAA).

In 2019, Charlene has also completed her certifications as Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Data Protection Auditor (DPA) for GDPR with the German TUEV institute.

Charlene’s more than twenty years of professional experience include various international positions in expert and management roles in large international firms (Bosch, Von Roll, IBM, Microsoft) as well as in law firms and as external consultant to government departments and global financial institutions.

She is specialized in negotiating and mediating large global deals, troubled IT projects and settlements, advising and supporting international corporations as in-house and outside counsel (be it on provider or customer side), as well as supporting strategic projects, for example concerning implementation of the GDPR, new technology projects or agile legal services.
